The Calcutta-born Thomas has more than 40 documentaries and dramas under his belt and his work has won a host of awards including a BAFTA and an Emmy. His latest film, the HBO documentary For Neda, is about Neda Agha-Soltan, the woman whose death grabbed international attention during Iran’s post-election protests last year. The film earned him the Foreign Press Association’s 2010 Journalist of the Year in conjunction with collaborator Saeed Kamali Dehghan.
