With an award-winning singer for a mother and an Italian opera singer as her grandfather, Mendes grew up surrounded by music. In her prolific career she has drawn upon bossa nova, jazz, rock, gospel and house music. She’s conquered the Japanese market, recorded the Grammy award-winning soundtrack to the movie Bossa Nova, released the single “Got to be In Love” which topped the European dance music charts, recorded and performed with the New York City ballet company, released three solo albums and featured on countless compilations around the world.
