Mel Young

President, Homeless World Cup
Mel Young, 53, was recognised as one of the world's leading social entrepreneurs by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. In 1993 he co-founded The Big Issue in Scotland with Tricia Hughes and helped set up the International Network of Street Papers, a global grouping of over 60 street papers, of which he is honorary president. He is also president of the Homeless World Cup, an annual football tournament that offers opportunities and raises awareness for homeless people. Founded in 2003, it has grown from 18 competing nations to 56 in last year's event and this year's tournament in Milan promises to build further on this success.
