Historian and author
Oxford-educated Mansel has written more than a dozen historical books, mostly covering France and the Middle East. A reviewer for the
Spectator and
Times Literary Supplement, he makes frequent radio and TV appearances and has lectured in the US, Europe and elsewhere. His latest book,
Levant, was released in October 2010 and narrates the turbulent histories of Smyrna, Alexandria and Beirut.
