Richard Wilkinson

Professor (emeritus) of medical epidemiology, The University of Nottingham Medical School, and honorary professor at University College London

Wilkinson has played a formative role in international research into social inequalities, with particular focus on epidemiology, and his work has been published in 10 languages. His latest book, The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better, co-authored with Kate Pickett, is the culmination of 30 years of research about how large gaps between rich and poor have damning effects across the board on the social environment and what can be done to correct this.
