Ruthie Rogers

Co-founder, The River Café

Born in the US, Rogers studied typography and graphic design at the London College of Printing and lived with her husband, the architect Richard Rogers, for four years in Paris before going on to establish The River Café in London in 1987 with the late Rose Gray. The restaurant's focus on high-quality ingredients and informal, authentic Italian cuisine earned it a Michelin star in 1998. Chefs who have worked under Rogers include Jamie Oliver and April Bloomfield. The co-author of six recipe books, she also presented a 12-part Channel 4 series with Gray on Italian cooking.
