Editor in chief Tyler Brûlé and editor Andrew Tuck are in London for the last Monocle Weekly of 2009 to wrap things up before the launch of the Monocle Winter Series on Friday. They're joined in studio by our Asia defence correspondent, Trefor Moss, to discuss the future of troops and tactics in Afghanistan. Then it's off to sunnier climes with culture editor Rob Bound as he sheds light on who's buying at Art Basel Miami Beach. Finally, we ask the EU's energy spokesperson, Ferran Tarradellas Espuny, whether the cosiness of Christmas is under threat by the decision to phase out traditional light bulbs in favour of energy-efficient alternatives.
The music played in this week's culture section is taken from the album Sweets House Best Xmas Songs by Naomile and we also play a track entitled Christmas Time by Jazzin' Park, from the compilation Francfranc presents Christmas Fantasy.
