Mitte is one of Berlin's most historic districts. Once the nucleus of the former east Berlin, Mitte is now the city's creative hub - Unter den Linden is one of Europe’s primary shopping boulevards with almost a mile of Berlin's hippest boutiques, cafés and restaurants. Rents here are among the cheapest of any European capital, allowing young creatives - architects, designers, casting agencies - to take over old shops and open businesses. Their office spaces, former shops with glass fronts, put them on display every day. This neighbourhood’s work wear is more than mere window dressing.
