01 Lots of city dwellers like to complain about traffic problems, but in Moscow it really is that bad. Take the subway and enjoy the Stalinist artwork in the stations.
02 Bad service is par for the course even in top-end restaurants. Let it amuse you, not anger you.
03 The Russians say that only foreigners and idiots smile. Avoid smiling at people you don't know and don't take people's brusque demeanor personally. It's not considered polite to smile at strangers.
04 Carry your passport at all times. The police have the right to stop you and demand documents.
05 Yes it’s cold in winter, but Russian interiors are heated like saunas. A warm coat and thin under layers are your best bet.
