The Monocle Weekly

Back in London this week after our jaunt to Japan, the fourth edition of the Monocle Summer Series continues to shine a light on global cities and culture. Ilse Crawford, the founder and director of international design house Studioilse, is here to talk about story-telling in design and how to communicate with clarity in different markets. Fionnuala Sweeney is no stranger to clear communication either and the CNN International anchor joins us in the studio to give us her insights into the global media landscape, the changing face of international audiences and the importance of taking a portable steaming press on your travels. Fresh off the plane from Sweden, we're also delighted to welcome songstress Emilia de Poret who performs her up-tempo summery Europop. Editor Andrew Tuck, culture editor Rob Bound and host Tyler Brûlé are on hand as always with their inimitable brand of culture and debate.

Hailed as the countess of Swedish Pop, Emilia de Poret has been working as an artist since the age of nine and has performed for the Swedish Royal Family and featured on numerous TV shows. Her latest album, Pick Me Up, is scheduled for release this autumn and has been produced by top songwriter/producer and Emilia's childhood friend Arnthor Birgisson, renowned as the producer behind hits by Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias and Janet Jackson. Mixing hi-tech upbeat tracks, classic ballads and Emilia's unique vocal range, Emilia performs a sneak preview of the album on this edition of the Monocle Summer Series.
