The Monocle Café on London’s Chiltern Street has been open and buzzing since early 2013. Having extended our hours and menu offering we are on the hunt for talented candidates, available part-time, to fill catering and service positions on the weekends. The ideal candidate must have a passion for the Monocle brand and good coffee; those with a flair for cookery and previous experience in independent cafés will be placed at the front of the queue. You will be adaptable to challenges in a new environment and a keen ambassador for the Monocle brand. You will be required to work closely with food – both its preparation and presentation. You will also provide impeccable and friendly customer service while keeping our cosy café looking immaculate. Attention to detail is a must. E-commerce Co-ordinator

We are looking for a passionate individual to join Monocle’s retail team in the position of E-commerce Co-ordinator.

This role involves responsibility for maximising sales through our thriving online business. Core tasks include reporting daily on e-commerce sales and monitoring and updating all e-commerce-related functions.

The E-commerce Co-ordinator will need to plan and manage all promotional activity relating to merchandise, including regular communications with Monocle’s global customer base. The individual will also be responsible for researching, planning and co-ordinating promotions to drive traffic to the online shop.

This role requires a background in e-commerce and an analytical mind. The successful individual will be well organised, have superb attention to detail and a wealth of ideas for growing Monocle’s online shop business.

Advertising internship — London

Monocle is offering a full-time internship with the advertising team in our London office.

This internship will be of particular appeal to recent graduates in business or publishing with an interest in the commercial aspects of magazine publishing and sales, including print, digital and broadcast. Assisting with the day-to-day operation of the department, you will have well-developed organisational and research skills, exceptional attention to detail and a passion for luxury brands and media.

In addition to demonstrating a high level of business acumen and commercial sense you'll already have customer service, sales or project-management experience, be able to demonstrate creativity and entrepreneurial flair and be ambitious, forward-thinking and proactive.

The internship is open to applicants with the right to live and work in the UK. Expenses will be covered.

Shop Sales Associates

Monocle's expanding retail business is looking for part-time Sales Associates to assist in its busy shops in New York, London and Hong Kong. The Monocle Shop stocks a mix of exclusive Monocle collaborations, current and back issues of the magazine and a collection of products from our favourite companies and craftsmen around the world.

Successful candidates will have a keen interest in world affairs, business and design, have a passion for printed matter and will be an ambassador for our brand. At the same time, a keen eye for detail, a friendly manner and a passion for delivering excellent service are all essential traits.

Proficiency in oral and written English is essential and knowledge of an additional language would be an advantage.

Editorial Internship

We are looking for several interns for our London HQ to help the editorial team and make sure the office runs smoothly. In addition, the interns will be involved in the work of our radio station Monocle 24, so some radio experience, interest or education will be a distinct advantage.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in current affairs, business and design, and be able to carry out detailed research. English fluency is essential, and other language skills are also desirable.

Working schedules for interns will vary, including very early mornings, late evenings or weekends for radio work. Expenses will be covered.

Monocle films are also looking for a dedicated intern and applicants with camera training and final cut pro editing should highlight their experience in broadcast journalism.

Freelance Video Journalist

Monocle broadcast is looking for freelance video journalists to work on Monocle's online films.

We are looking for filmmaking talent based in London and abroad who have a minimum of two years' experience. Candidates need to have strong writing skills and the ability to take a story from concept to completion - producing, shooting, editing and writing. Most importantly we are looking for individuals with strong journalistic instincts, a photographic eye and the discipline to tell stories well on film.
